Welcome
Hi there! Welcome to a lesson about knowing & guessing.
Sometimes you KNOW something. You are sure! You know your own name. You know your mom's face.
Other times you do not know. You have to GUESS. Like guessing what is for dinner, or which hand holds the candy.
Both are okay! Knowing is fun. Guessing is fun too. Today we will play with both.
Know or Guess?
Let's think about it!
How Sure Are You?
How Sure? 🤔
Sometimes you are very sure. You know it! Like, are you a kid? Very sure!
Sometimes you are only a little sure. Like, will it rain today? Maybe. A little sure.
And sometimes you are not sure at all. That is a guess!
All of these are okay. It is good to know how sure you are.
Very Sure or a Little Sure?
Let's try it!
Saying I'm Not Sure
It Is Okay! 😊
Guess what? Nobody knows everything. Not even grown-ups!
When you do not know something, you can say three magic words. Ready?
"I'm not sure."
Those words are okay to say! It is better to say "I'm not sure" than to pretend you know.
You can even add a guess. Like, "I'm not sure, but maybe it is a dog!"
What Would You Say?
Let's pretend!
Clues Help Us Guess
Good Guesses Use Clues 🔎
When we do not know for sure, we can still make a good guess.
A good guess uses clues. Clues are things you can see or hear or notice.
Here is one: the sky is dark & cloudy. That is a clue! So maybe it will rain. Good guess!
Here is another: you smell cookies. That is a clue! So maybe cookies are baking. Good guess!
Clues help our guesses get better.
