The Sun
The Sun
The sun is a big, bright star in the sky. It keeps us warm & gives us light!
When the sun is out, we call it a sunny day. Sunny days are great for playing outside!
Rain
Sometimes clouds cover the sun, & rain falls from the sky!
Rain helps flowers & trees grow. Plants need water, just like you do!
Without rain, the grass would not be green & flowers would not bloom.
Wind and Snow
Wind
Wind is moving air! You cannot see it, but you can feel it on your face.
Wind blows leaves off trees. It makes flags wave. It can even fly a kite!
Snow
When it gets really cold, rain turns into snow!
Snow is white & fluffy & cold. Each snowflake is tiny & special.
Snow covers the ground like a big white blanket!
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter
The Four Seasons
The weather changes through the year. We call these changes seasons. There are four seasons!
Spring: Flowers bloom! Baby animals are born! It rains a lot and everything turns green.
Summer: It is hot and sunny! Days are long. Time for swimming and ice cream!
Fall: Leaves change colors: red, orange, yellow! The air gets cool and crispy.
Winter: It is cold! Sometimes it snows. Days are short and nights are long. Time for warm coats and hot cocoa!
What Do We Wear?
Dressing for the Weather
We wear different clothes for different weather!
When it is sunny & hot, we wear shorts, t-shirts, & sunglasses!
When it is rainy, we wear rain boots & a raincoat. Some people carry an umbrella!
When it is cold & snowy, we wear warm coats, mittens, hats, & scarves!
When it is windy, we zip up our jackets so the wind does not make us too cold!
Picking the right clothes helps us stay comfy no matter what the weather is!
